Happy Holiday!

This has definitely been an interesting year. For the first time in our lives, older individuals can’t say, “I can remember when I went through this back in…” I have never lived through a pandemic. The closest comparison was the Rubella vaccination when I was a kid. It was NOTHING like this. Stories and news of friends and family passing from this horrible virus would cause anyone to re-evaluate priorities. The majority of my silence on here was doing just that. What do I want to focus on as I continue? There are two things that have held my interest from a young age till now: music and cinematic production. I have played piano and sang since I was 12-years-old when my brother handed me a cassette as he cleaned his car, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” by Elton John.

In 1985, I moved to California with the intention of enrolling in Film School, I planned to attend the California Music Business Academy (I believe that some of the courses were taught by Bill Spooner of the Tubes). Neither of those happened and spend most of that year living just above the poverty level. Thanks so much to a couple of families and one particular best friend for accepting and loving me. That was the year after my father passed suddenly of a heart attack, so those trips to Santa Cruz and nights of dancing to Madonna and Wham were great distractions.

In closing, I did miss some opportunities and moved down other paths. Some of those paths introduced me to some incredible people, but it is never too late to focus on dreams. My father bought a piano two-years before he passed. That was two-years working off his bucket list. So fashion and design will still be a focus here but I am adding music, songwriting, and cinematic production. I look forward to sharing what I am working on.

By the way, if you love musical creation, join me on the Ryan Tedder Songwriting and production course in January:
